About the Workshop

The Aquatic Virus Workshop has its origin in the Algal Virus Workshop,
held for the first time in 1998 in Bergen, Norway. Subsequent workshops
have been held every 2-3 years. The International Organizing Committee
has decided in 2005 to expand the scope of the workshop from algal
viruses to aquatic viruses in order to increase the communication among
a wider range of researcher in a steadily expanding research field. The
first workshop on aquatic viruses in 2008 held in Vancouver, Canada was
a great success. The original idea behind this workshop still stands firmly -
to establish a forum where we present the most recent results in the field,
exchange ideas, discuss new methods and developments, meet old friends
and make new, encourage future collaboration, and promote the research
field.
